GLACIER HIKE

Explore the frozen heart of Iceland and conquer the wild terrain of Sólheimajökull Glacier on our three hour private hike.

Traverse Iceland’s masterpiece with tailored tours and experienced guides.

Since this is a private tour, the pace of the hike is matched to everyone’s abilities and fitness levels. You will have your own certified glacier guide the entire trip, who will brief you on safety and enlighten you with facts, Icelandic History, and stories. (Maybe a few jokes.)

Like all true outdoor adventures, navigating the glacier can be challenging, but highly rewarding. Our attentive guides will ensure our guests feel secure, while encouraging them to push their limits and embrace the odyssey through Sólheimajökull. We want to deliver the moment and create an unforgettable experience.

We hope to ignite passion and admiration for outdoor adventures, that you will carry with you in all your future endeavors. (And perhaps take a nice Christmas card photo)

Upon arrival, our guides will get your group geared up and briefed on safety measures. We then begin our trek to the glacier. Unfortunately due to receding, the distance to ice gets longer each year, but we will enjoy stunning views of the lagoon and glacial valley during the 15- 25 minute walk until we reach ice.

After putting crampons on, we will begin trekking up the glacier. Each tour with us can vary greatly, based on the pace and desires of the group, weather and sights of interest. The glacier is alive, and is an ever changing playground that offers new structures for us to explore- such as caves, canyons, moulins and meandering streams.

As the glacier moves and evolves, these structures can become more enchanting, or on the contrary, inaccessible. We never make promises to our guests about which features we will see, because they change day to day. Although the appearance of the glacier takes many forms from season to season, the beauty remains constant.

Near the end of the tour, we make our way down the glacier so we can arrive at the Sólheimajökull parking lot on time.

We will meet at the Sólheimajökull Parking Lot and you can visit our Contact page to see the location on google maps. We typically park our small trailer in the south west corner of the parking lot.

Please reach out to us, or check our FAQs if you need further explanation, or have questions regarding your tour.
